Studio Series – Core Technique Level

PlicaBlooms™ Foundations introduces the essential principles of shaping wafer paper through controlled hydration.

This level focuses on understanding paper response, managing working time, and using precise hydration to create movement, volume, and controlled petal structure. Each project develops the fundamental skills needed before progressing into more complex flowers and advanced botanical forms.

Lessons in Foundations concentrate on:

• understanding wafer paper response to hydration
• recognising correct working readiness
• controlling moisture, timing, and pressure
• shaping and veining petals without losing structure
• managing gradual transitions between petal sizes
• developing an organised and confident workflow

The goal is not simply speed, but control — understanding when, why, and how the material moves.
